North Georgia Honda Dealers Sponsor
World Children's Center Gala
Long-time supporter donates new cars to benefit disadvantaged children

North Georgia Honda Dealers (NGHD) donated two new automobiles to the fundraising efforts of the World Children’s Center (WCC) annual gala held this past Saturday evening at Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta.

Diamond Sponsor NGHD, now in its fourth year as a gala supporter, donated a 2008 Honda Accord and a 2008 Honda CRV with a combined retail value of more than $56,000 to the annual gala which raises funds to support the WCC’s mission of providing state-of-the-art short and long-term homes and nurturing, healing, spiritual and educational support to homeless, orphaned and/or otherwise neglected children.

With fundraising numbers still being tabulated, gala organizers expect to exceed their $300,000 net fundraising goal.

Jerry Goddard, Acworth resident and general manager of NGHD member dealership Hennessy Honda of Woodstock said, “Four years ago, the 16 founding dealers of the NGHD decided to enhance their individual dealership fundraising and selected the WCC gala to support collectively.  All the funds raised through our involvement go directly to fund the facilities and services that will provide a terrific setting for these unfortunate children.”

Goddard credits Don Whitney, founder and president of WCC, for his contagious enthusiasm: “Don saw his vision for the WCC in the 1990's, and now his dream is coming true.  With the help of the NGHD, the WCC is developing 710 acres in Tallapoosa, GA, where ground has been broken for the first group homes.  Without question, the WCC will provide life-changing experiences for the children it serves.”
